what the quote means to me is madam c j walker is a very hard working women.
she sounded as if,she didnt brag about gettin to the top,she simply explained that it was hard work getting to "RAGS TO RICHES".

i found out the annie malon was actually the first african american female to event hair care products for the black.
she evented the hot comb.
and madam cj walker was one of her workers,so basically madam cj learned some of her methods from her.
